Claycrete

Claycrete is a unique patented chemical soil stabilizer used in all forms of soil stabilization

Soil/surface stabilization

Environmental impact of traditional building and road sealing materials along with high initial and maintenance costs have lead to the need for a simpler and more economic solution with minimal environment impact. Claycrete has proved to be an excellent alternative.

Application Claycrete is a liquid to be applied to soils that contain clay. The application of Claycrete will change the Ionic Charge of the clay portion of the soil and reduce the shrink & swell characteristics that cause structural problems.

Claycrete improves the behavior of clay. It reduces the shrink and swell characteristic. Particles of clay are so small that when clay is modified in this way it is able to fill the smallest void in the pavement. As the pavement is compacted the clay takes the shape of the smallest particles of silt and sand and produces a pavement that has high density and low void.

Claycrete is unique because the stabilisation does not depend on the presence of a residual product. After the reaction period is completed the stabilizing clay is the remaining binder. Where a process depends on the introduced product acting as a binding agent there will be progressive loss of benefit due to leaching. Additional loss is caused by the mechanical stresses resulting from expansion & contraction of the untreated clay.

Claycrete is mixed in with soil using a rotary grader, dozer, ripper or rotary hoe and compacted.

Recommended application rates : Application rate is very low . One 200 litre drum of Claycrete will compared to 30-45 tonnes of cement or lime to achieve similar stability.

Benefits:

- Increases road/surface safety

- Large reduction in construction & maintenance costs

- Dramatic dust reduction

- Ideal for shoulders and main pavements

- Easier construction – use on site materials

- No specialised equipment required

- Less materials and volume to cart in – only water and Claycrete

- Standard water bind procedures

- Reduction in sheeting loss

- Surface is ready for traffic soon after completion of mixing and compaction

- All weather roads – non slippery

- Environmentally friendly – lowers carbon footprint

USE FOR

- Roads – stabilization, reduction of base thickness by increasing CBR of materials, shoulder stabilization, reducing maintenance & increasing wet weather access, safer access on slopes & less damage in run off areas

- Dams, embankments, canals, ponds -stabilizing fill materials & decreasing permeability

- Land fill areas -stabilizing land fill in layers to resist land slide

- Airports – stabilizing sub grades & base course of taxi ways & aprons

- Livestock walkways, machinery areas
